This is the first book I have read from Christina Ross and I am addicted!

I absolutely love series books and cliffhangers! With that being said lets say I am so glad I found this book once the series was complete because I immediately ordered the next book to start! From the first page I couldn’t stop turning the page. The characters have so much depth and you can’t help but feel that you know them.

Jennifer is struggling to find a job in NYC but not having any luck until she meets a mysterious stranger in the elevator when leaving a disastrous interview only to bump into someone leaving the building and everything go flying. Little did she know that Alex Wenn the billionaire was her mysterious stranger she had just shared her horrid interview details with in the elevator and helps her pick up her belongings and resumes.

Another interview landed her a job with Alex Wenn himself only to end after one day when it brings back horrid memories of her childhood. She walks out on her high paying job she needed so bad and refuses to talk to Alex. She won’t answer the phone and deletes his voice mails but Alex will not give up. She soon lands another job and is loving it and finally falling into a routine when Alex shows up and wants to talk. Jennifer is unsure but finally gives in to talk. The struggling girl starting over in NYC has a billionaire at her mercy after her first impressions and he won’t give up.

I fell in love with this book because it is more than just an erotic story or a simple romance story. Both Jennifer and Alex have a damaged family history that both have locked away without dealing with. Together the trust between them grows and slowly and they both seem to start to open up and I can’t wait to see where the series goes! I would highly recommend this series even though it has just started!

This was a great book which caught me completely off guard. Because of the title I was expecting something a lot steamier than what it ended up being, this was a good thing however. The writing drew you into the plight of the characters and made you want to follow along and find out how their lives would turn out. It held my attention from the beginning to the end and had me wishing there were just a few more hours available so I could finish instead of having to wait for the next day. I was very glad to find that volume 1 was a full novel and not just an introduction or a type of serialization. The characters all have great personalities which only adds to the story itself, you get a chance to know something about them and why they act the way they do in situations. I think the language used is appropriate for the character based on their personalities and the way that they are purported to live and to have been educated.

Jennifer and Lisa have moved from Bangor, Maine to New York after graduating college four months ago. Lisa is a budding writer whose first book on has done very well, she is self-published, and is currently working on her second book. Jennifer graduated with her MBA in business and is hoping to land her dream job so she does not have to return home, but things are looking a bit dismal. After four months of interviews Jennifer is no closer to a job than when they arrived and her money is starting to run out, she hates that Lisa is more or less having to support them both. She has one more interview coming up and hopes that this will be her break, if not she is going to have to come up with another plan.

When she arrives for her interview the woman interviewing her is less than professional, she wants to know why someone with her qualifications would want a secretarial job and dismisses her without a thought. Jennifer is upset and while trying to hold it together in the elevator meets a man pours out her dislike for the interviewer to him thinking she will never see him again. To her surprise she gets called back by the hateful woman for an interview with the owner of Wenn Enterprises. She has no idea what is coming but the job is not what she thinks it is and is going to change her life.

This is more than just an erotic story or even a simple romance story. It’s about two people who have been damaged in ways that neither has been able to deal with alone. This story has moments of fun, glamour, sweetness, sorrow, paranoia, and true friendship. It was a nice beginning in the story of two people from different worlds who are going to try and meld those worlds to create something richer for them both. I would highly recommend this!
Thank goodness I read this during the weekend. What was to be a chapter or two of light reading turned into my finishing this book at 4 in the morning. I did make a few judgments before getting into it and was really expecting some clique romance novel about some woman who's life is magically transformed by some well endowed billionaire who's rich, famous and great in bed. This story is thankfully not that.

Jennifer is a surprisingly intelligent woman who like many fresh out of college looking to make her mark in the real world and coming up short. Her story is something that just about everyone starting out can relate to. What happens next is a whirlwind of opportunity but grounded in reality. I liked that Jennifer had integrity and the common sense to leave a bad situation when things got uncomfortable with Alex. That was the turning point for me in this novel when I just couldn't stop reading.

As for the romance it was slow building and I didn't even mind the lack of sex. Actually I think I enjoyed it more without it. Strange as it may be I liked the tension and the building up to it. But more than that I liked that it wasn't just about the inevitable love story of two people that we all knew was coming. I was enthralled and entertained by Ms. Blackwell's character which came as an utter surprise because she was just a complete you know what at the beginning of the story. I imagine her as some Judi Dench type of sophisticated woman. I didn't even care about the mysterious billionaire love interest because darn it the side characters were just such a joy to read about. I wouldn't mind reading a side novel from just Blackwell's point of view. Jennifer and Alex might be the face of the story but Blackwell she becomes the heart and soul of it. The story just lends itself to such witty humor and captivating characters the romance part was secondary to me.
